Nicky's story? You couldn't write it.
Well, strictly speaking, you could, but you'd have to be dab hand at creating a story line that weaves, at breathing speed, real-life northern drama, comedy, tragedy, crime and passion, and a story that, when told, reduces audiences to tears of sadness, joy and ultimately lifts them to new highs of hope and ambition. Yes, it's a good one.
She was born in Holmfirth. The very same place where the award winning comedy "Last of the Summer Wine" is filmed. That's in West Yorkshire if you've just returned from a 20 year round trip to Mars.
Like those Pennine hills that were her childhood playground, Nicky is uncompromising, gritty, sometimes wild and always breathtaking.
Life however, dealt Nicky a series of blows some years back. The consequences of the events in her personal life were so severe that many people would have found these new circumstance too daunting to cope with. But it was during these times that Nicky summoned all of her strength, faith and uncrushable spirit, and rebuilt a life for herself and her young son.
Fate, life, the universe - whatever you want to call it - conspired to pull together a stream of events. She was introduced to what was then, misguidedly, referred to as 'cold calling'. Her tools were a phone, a desk and a lifetime of experience of just 'being herself'. That was, and still is, her trademark. And anyone who's ever had the pleasure of answering the phone to her will tell you the same thing.
In her first year she forged relationships on behalf of her clients with companies which, up to then, had only been her client's dreams. As they watched in amazement, she opened the doors to hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of new business, and made a name for herself which spread as fast as her reputation continued to grow.
Fast forward five years:
If Nicky had a pound for every time she was asked "How do you do it?" she'd have had enough pound coins to liberate every Sainsbury's shopping trolley in the country.
Nicky had effectively rewritten the books on 'introducing' new clients. Without ever once dropping her unmistakeable Yorkshire accent, she had flown all over the world with her clients to complete the transition from initial telephone call to 'hand-over.'
It was time to start showing others how it was done.
Now she travels the country speaking, teaching, showing, listening to and helping anyone who ever wondered "How does she do it?" And more importantly "Can I learn to do it?"
Last month Nicky was described as being the best speaker that one particular chamber of commerce had ever had. Without mentioning names, they'd had some bloody impressive ones. But Nicky was the best they'd ever had. Ever.
It's quite a story isn't it?
And if this was a Hollywood Blockbuster trailer, the man with the deep husky voice would now be warming up and practising his lines which would inevitably include words like: "Adventure... Against all odds... It will touch your heart... Your life will never be the same... Be prepared to be inspired..."
But it's not a trailer, and it's not Hollywood. It's better than that.
It's true.
Cue music.
