TODAY – I PLAYED AT BEING VERA LYNN….
What a day.
Karen who mamagers the cafe i’m working with at the shopping centre had a genius idea – write to care homes and invite the residents and carers to have a special lunch in the cafe!!!
The first guest from a local care home came today…..6 ladies and gentlemen in wheelchairs and the wondeful people who LOVE them (i was shocked – they could easily have been their OWN with the attention they gave these proud seniors). Karen and Nicola (Karens daughter) let me serve the soup and talk to our most honoured guests (took me a while to get the hang of the BINGO tho to be honest).
Later i asked Norma – a frail lady …still beautifill – (86 i thnk) what she did when she was younger.
She was a singer – entertaining the troops in the 2nd world war…then singing in the clubs in the 50′s and 60′s.
OF COURSE i asked her to sing…if i sang too.
THE MOST AMAZING VOICE came out of that wheelchair…NORMA LOST 50 YEARS!!!
We sang ”WE’LL MEET AGAIN” together….it was a humbling moment i can tell you that.
THE APPLAUSE moved me – what it did to Norma, to me….everyone.
Somebody called me a ”sales trainer” in the paper the other day – can you teach people the kindness LP4 CAFE at Junction 32 shopping centre showed to their customers today???
SADLY NO.
But more of us should FIND IT – its worth a 1,000 posters adverising sandwiches ANY DAY of the freakin’ week.

The small things mean so much, in this day of “fast”, really talking and listening get so lost. A wonderful story with a happy ending for everyone that reads it.

makes you realise there ARE some lovely people in this world who
thnk about others not just themselves!
